A key part of our mission to support health and care informatics practitioners is to offer industry-recognized credentials that are validated through professional recognition.
As part of our commitment to encouraging and promoting the ongoing development of practitioners, we are pleased to announce our new digital badge scheme.
When & How?
From the 10th of January, we will begin issuing digital badges through the Credly platform to all those on the FEDIP professional register. We will be sending an invitation to claim your digital badge to all practitioners via email.
You can read more information on how to claim your badge here.
Why Digital Badges?
We hope the digital badges will not only help our registrants to display their professionalism as registered members of the health and care informatics profession but also to help raise awareness of the informatics profession.
The digital badges can be displayed on social media, on job networking sites such as LinkedIn, within email signatures and on registrants’ personal websites.
According to the LinkedIn blog “On average LinkedIn members with credentials receive 6x more views to their profile”.
The badges will allow individuals to display their credentials and will also allow employers to quickly gain an understanding of an applicant’s skill set and commitment to their ongoing development as a professional.
The digital badges contain information that clearly shows what standards the practitioner has met to achieve their level of registration and provides links to more detailed information on what criteria practitioners have evidenced to successfully be awarded their level of registration.
This will help registrants with their ongoing career progression and differentiate themselves from other candidates. It will also help registrants give colleagues an overview of what health informatics competencies they can evidence within their role and show their commitment to ongoing professional development.
Registrants will be able to display badges showing their level on the register, as well as their completion of FEDIP accredited courses.
We hope this will allow registrants to develop their digital CVs, affirm their commitment to CPD and help form a universal understanding of health and informatics competencies.
Registrants will have full freedom as to how they use their badges if they wish to do so. The badges are securely linked to each member’s account, which allows them to share or download their badges as they please.
