The Federation for Informatics Professionals in Health and Care (FEDIP) is pleased to announce the endorsement of three HDR UK Futures online learning pathways as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for professionals in the health and care informatics community.
Following an independent assessment, the following courses have been confirmed as aligned with the FEDIP Professional Competency Standards at the Associate Practitioner level:
Data Standardisation (1.1 CPD hours)
Health Information Engineering (4.5 CPD hours)
Routine Data in Clinical Trials: Building Public Trust (2 CPD hours)
Each self-paced online course was reviewed against the FEDIP competency framework, which defines the professional standards for health and care informatics practitioners across the UK, from Associate through to Leading Practitioner.
Evidence-Based Endorsement
The review considered course materials, learning outcomes, and module content, mapping these against the FEDIP professional competencies. Each course demonstrated strong alignment with the core capabilities required of Associate Practitioners, including:
Applying established informatics methods and standards
Communicating effectively using sector terminology
Working safely, reliably, and ethically within recognised codes of practice
Taking responsibility for personal professional development
Certain modules also address Practitioner-level competencies, particularly around autonomy, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Building Capability in the Health Informatics Workforce
The endorsement recognises HDR UK’s contribution to building digital capability across the UK’s health and care sector. Through its HDR UK Futures platform, learners gain access to structured, high-quality CPD resources that strengthen technical, methodological, and ethical understanding in data-driven health research.
Supporting the FEDIP Mission
The alignment demonstrates how academic and professional training initiatives can contribute to the FEDIP mission of ensuring consistent professional standards across the health informatics workforce. Learners who complete these HDR UK courses can confidently include them as part of their CPD portfolio when renewing FEDIP registration or seeking professional progression.
About the Courses
