Are We Ready for Digital?
The NHS is undergoing a major shift from analogue to digital systems, but is the workforce fully prepared?
Digital transformation is about more than just new technology—it impacts workflows, professional responsibilities, and patient care. Without proper engagement, these changes risk creating more work rather than improving efficiency.
The “Are We Ready?” campaign, led by FEDIP and HPCA, invites NHS professionals to a three-part webinar series and final roundtable discussion to ensure staff are central to shaping digital transformation. Insights will inform a national NHS Digital Transformation Report and Best Practice Guide.

The NHS is undergoing a significant transformation as it moves from analogue to digital systems. The transition away from paper-based records, manual processes, and legacy systems presents both opportunities and challenges. While digital solutions have the potential to enhance efficiency and patient care, their success depends on how well NHS staff are prepared and supported throughout the change.
Why Staff Preparedness Matters
The NHS is adopting digital technologies at an increasing pace. While these changes bring improvements in areas such as data accessibility and workflow efficiency, they also introduce complexities, including interoperability issues, training requirements, and shifts in professional responsibilities.
Without proper engagement, digital transformation can create additional work rather than reducing burdens. NHS staff must be actively involved in shaping how these systems are introduced, ensuring they are fit for purpose and support day-to-day clinical and operational needs.
Key Questions to Consider
What does “digital readiness” look like for NHS teams?
What challenges do staff currently face in adopting digital ways of working?
How can NHS professionals influence the process to ensure digital systems work for them, rather than adding to their workload?
Through interactive discussions and post-webinar surveys, this campaign will gather insights that directly contribute to a national NHS Digital Transformation Report and Best Practice Guide.
