Advanced Practitioners research and develop standards and best practice. They are key in the development of the health and care informatics profession as a sector and enhancing its professional status. They can advise on available standards, methods, tools and applications relevant to their own specialism, making appropriate choices from alternatives.

Through FEDIP registration practitioners have had their skills independently validated and demonstrated their competencies with a parity of esteem with the other professionals around them.
Advanced Practitioners are committed to developing and maintaining their skills through the required continuous professional development.

Many Advanced Practitioners may also aim to gain Leading Practitioner status, the highest level represented on the FEDIP Standards.

Advanced Practitioner
To become an Advanced Practitioner, you must submit evidence to support the competencies as required by the FEDIP Standards for informatics professionals in health and care.

All applications across all grades are assessed against the FEDIP standard. These are a common set of guidelines and criteria that all informaticians can be assessed against.

The standard was written in consultation with the awarding professional bodies, UKCHIP and leading informaticians across the UK.

To achieve Advanced Practitioner status, practitioners must evidence that they exercise autonomy within broad but well-defined parameters and that they can build appropriate and effective business relationships.
Advanced Practitioners perform a range of complex technical/professional work by applying fundamental principles in meeting work requirements.
