Affiliate Practitioner

Your Gateway to Professional Recognition in Health Informatics

Are you working in or with health or care services and want to take the next step in your professional development?

The Affiliate Practitioner route allows you to become FEDIP registered today.

You can join the FEDIP register as an affiliate for 12 months.

Designed to give you 12 months to choose a Professional Body and prepare your application for the appropriate Practitioner Level.

With 12 months' access to the FEDIP learning Hub to help you complete your 10 hours of CPD. 

Key Features

Open To All

Open to anyone working in or with a health or care setting, whether in the NHS, private, or third sector roles. 

One-year Affiliate registration fee:

  • £36 p.a for individuals at NHS Band 7 or below 

  • £50 p.a for individuals at NHS Band 8 or above​

We welcome applications from those health and care informatics professionals who are working outside of the NHS. The current Pay scales for 2025/26 are:

Band 7 and below is annual pay below £54,710 

Band 8 and above is annual pay above £55,690

CPD

Affiliate Practitioners gain access to the FEDIP Hub to access our free CPD library. There is a requirement to complete a minimum of 10 hours of CPD during the Affiliate year.

You do not need to be a member of a Professional Body to become an Affiliate Practitioner. This entry route gives you the opportunity to explore the FEDIP-recognised professional bodies and identify the most suitable route for your career development, and which FEDIP  level to apply for.

Affiliate Practitioners are individuals who wish to begin their professional registration journey with FEDIP.

 

During a 12-month period, Affiliates remain on the FEDIP Register while completing professional development and considering which professional body is the most appropriate for their ongoing registration.

At the end of the 12 months, Affiliate Practitioners are expected to join one of the FEDIP recognised professional bodies and to have successfully applied for the most appropriate level of registration.

FAQs

How Long Can I Stay On the Register as Affiliate? The FEDIP Affiliate Level offers 12 months of registration.

How Do I Become an Affiliate Practitioner? Visit our registration page and select the appropriate band for your role or organisation. Proceed to checkout and pay the fee for your selected band. Confirm your agreement to abide by the FEDIP Code of Conduct and to complete 10 hours of CPD each year. Once your payment is processed, you will receive an email with your login details for the FEDIP Hub. You will also be added to the FEDIP register shortly afterwards.

Do I need to complete CPD as an Affiliate? All FEDIP registered practitioners must complete 10 Hours of CPD a year to maintain registration.

Do I need to be a member of a Professional Body? You do not need to be a member of a Professional Body to apply for Affiliate Practitioner and be registered for 12 months.
